Scottish Enterprise

EDGE, created in 2005 by Scottish Enterprise Dunbartonshire in partnership with Columbia University, is an innovative learning and development programme about business and enterprise, providing a unique opportunity for participants to apply their theoretical knowledge of commerce to business growth challenges facing companies. EDGE participants work with real life business issues and provide real life business solutions.

This year the Programme ran from 15 June to 8 August with participants from Hong Kong, Poland, Canada and the United States joining fellow students from Glasgow Caledonian University, Glasgow University and Strathclyde University. The university students were also joined by 48 pupils from a number of local authorities in the west central belt.

The key role for Think Different Events was to manage the logistics for the entire programme including:

  • Management of the experience offered before, during and after the event for speakers and 144 participants, stakeholders and partners
  • Identify, coordinate, organise and confirm suitable home space for 32 consultancy teams
  • Organise transportaion within SPT area for all participants
  • Organise mobile phones and subsequent top-up vouchers for all participants
  • Identify and organise suitable venues for events/activities, including:
    • Highland Games
    • Loch Cruise
    • Visits to New Lanark and the Scottish Parliament
    • Design and delivery of the launch event and closing Awards Ceremony
  • Provide 24/7 support to participants throughout the eight week programme

'Think Different Events was engaged by Scottish Enterprise to provide event and logistical management support for the EDGE programme 2008. We found their general approach, level of commitment and attention to detail throughout the process to be very good.'
