We welcomed 9 newbies into the Business Banter community this week and I've included short profiles for each of them below, with the exception of Joe. Joe with no second name, no business card but at least I kno whe works as a consultant with Ener-G. So if you're reading this Joe, send me that email you promised so I can make you whole again!! ;-)
So what's been going on with the Banterers this past week then?
Our very own behavioral strategist, David Yeoman got himself in on the Murray v Nadel match on Friday with a mention in this piece which appeared in The Herald. While Patricia Elliot tells me she's only missing the Business Banter because of her speaking engagements which are taking her around Scotland. The rumour that she is working for Scotrail improving the station information bulletins we never seem to hear has yet to be confirmed.
We also heard on the grapevine that Commsworld announced the acquisition of the entire share capital of Pocket Solutions Limited. Based in Aberdeen Pocket Solutions is a leading provider of Telecommunication Services to over 500 businesses and has created an enviable reputation within the region.
A quick mention for a monthly networking event this coming Thursday being organised by regular Banterer Susan Anderson. First Thursday at McPhabbs takes place anytime between 5.30 and 8.30, though I'm sure if the weather holds up a few sunset drinks may be had too.
Business Banter still going strong. Despite the start of the school holidays the Business Banter attendance last week broke all records, which would probably matter if we were keeping records but that's another thing. And just to prove it here is the roll of homour from Thursday.

Before we go on to talk about the Business Banter newbies last week just a further reminder that the Business Golf Association event is taking place on 25 August and I'd really appreciate any help in getting this event into people's mindset for that date. While the Business Banter remains a free event, it'll be the success of the BGA and a few other events I'm looking to kick start in the coming months which will help fund the time and resource in putting the Business Banter together.

The Business Banter this week
This week's forthcoming Business Banter is at the usual time and place.
Glasgow, Thursday, Esquires, Hope Street 0800-1000
Esquire's have their own Twitter account - @PeekayPenguin so hope some of you can follow that and show the company the interest we have in them and hopefully they may reciprocate with us in some way.
Would like to thank Jacqui Wright for sending me the link to this wonderful new telephone. It has five amazing features which Apple must be gutted they didn't think about first.
Projector, Global Voice Translator, Coffee Brewer - no doubt with skinny latte options, Shaver and Harmonica. Steve Jobs is gutted.

Lesley Wood, Principal Consultant, Targeting Innovation Ltd
OK. So technically Lesley wasn't able to join us but she was there in spirit. I had a really good meeting with her earlier on in the week and there's every chance that the Business Banter is going to start appearing as one of her case studies in some of her sessions for businesses. Targeting Innovation is one of the UK's leading innovation agencies. We work regionally, nationally and internationally from our offices in Glasgow and Leeds, providing consultancy and training in information technology, innovation and social media. Denise Maclennan, Director, Finance Company Director at Northern Engineering & Welding Co Ltd
You know the Business Banter is being talked about across Scotland when someone like Denise makes the journey down from Fort William to come and see what the stooshie is all about. Cathie Way, Managing Director, Motivational Trainer and Inspirational Speaker, Affirmints Ltd
An it was thanks to Cathie that Denise above came along. Mark Pettigrew, Director, Code Red Fire Safety Ltd
I've been following Mark on Twitter for a good while now and even within the limited space of 140 characters I always felt that he talked a lot of sense about the importance of being aware of the dangers of fire and how to minimise any risks. Code Red Fire Safety are Glasgow`s number one fire extinguisher, fire training and Fire Risk Assessment company. We pride ourselves on our level of customer service and work to ensure that fire extinguisher servicing, fire training and fire risk assessments are carried out by professionals in line with all current fire safety legislation and guidance.
Iain Dorrian, Sales Manager, New id Studios
According to Iain when I met him earlier in the week, I was someone he wanted to get in contact with because of what he had heard about the Business Banter. Alwayd find it difficult to explain to people what it's about and en evwhen you talk about who comes along and how it's grown I sometimes getting the feeling there's a wee bit of sceptisim lingering with them. Having witnessed Thursday's Business Banter I think we can safely dispel that notion!! ;-) Burlingtons hair salons, which has been at the forefront of creative hair design for over 25 years, allowing us to provide more luxurious makeover and beauty services to our clients We've also created our own innovative make-up range - new<id Cosmetics - from sharing the insights of the hundreds of professional make-up artists working in our studios throughout the UK'
Hera Hussain, Social Entrepreneur
It would be fair to assume that Hera is going places and probably at a rate of knots I could only have dreamed of when her age. I didn't get much chance to talk to her for any length of time but looking at the Tweetosphere it appears that she is currently an intern with IA3 (IA Cubed) which is a trusted IT partner for small and medium-size companies. Based in Glasgow but work across the UK. As they say on their website ..'We speak your language and help you solve business problems.'
Suzanne Murphy, Sales manager and Margaret-Anne McKay, Business Development, McKay Flooring Limited
Up until a fortnight ago I hadn't heard of McKay Flooring, now I feel I'm part of the family having met Richard, Suzanne, Margaret-Anne (pictured here) and Seamus. Great to hear about a long established and successful Glasgow company and even better to see the ladies come along to the Banter. Much better on the eye than Richard and Seamus!!
The products and services they offer include:
The supply of quality hardwood, granite and speciality floor coverings across the UK from this website, and from our central Scotland showroom; The installation of our flooring in homes across Scotland; Dust free sanding and resealing of existing wooden floors; Supplying and installing hardwood floors in commercial premises across the UK; Installation of parquet block and marquetry; Supply and fitting of acoustic subfloor systems; Supplying and installing Junckers sports flooring - we're one of only two Junckers approved contractors in Scotland
Robbie Maltby, Sales Manager, Vanax Ltd

We specialise in all aspects of commercial vehicle accessories and offer account customers our fully trained mobile fitting teams. Vanax continues to seek out new and innovative products aimed at increasing your company's productivity and health and safety record.
Not to forget Joe
And it would only be fair to mention Joe, a consultant with the energy solution company Ener-G. No networking event would be the same without someone not having business cards to pass around when asked. Couldn't even find him on LinkedIn. Was he a figment of my imagination that he was there?
ENER-G, a UK business, designs, develops, operates and finances energy efficient, sustainable and renewable solutions on a business to business basis globally.
Musical Interlude
This coming weekend we'll be at T in the Park and hopefully the highlight will be the following by the great Primal Scream
Forget about FFs or Friendly Fridays as they're called. This is the 'A' list of Twits this week from the Business Banter Community. So thanks for all the mentions using the #TDBB hash tag this week.
