Only five or six weeks into the new year and I haven't had a moment to sit back and consider what we've done, what we're going to do and what's happening all around us.
The first big event of the year was BETT at the Olympia in London. 30,000 people attended from all over the world and fortunately for us the vast majority of the CPD programme was very popular. Once again the practitioner based sessions gave a clear view of how to successfully use the technologies that are currently available. From an exhibition point of view you wouldn't know there was a recession taking place!!
Then had a pleasant surprise when I went down to Liverpool for the ABPCO conference. My memories of Liverpool were about 15 years old and I imagined that I would be visiting a city in need of some regeneration. Ooops!! I must have been about 5 years out of touch because Liverpool has really transformed itself. It's great how they have incorporated the old and the new down the waterfront and it certainly makes me hope that Glasgow will be following suit.
We then organised a far more sedate financial seminar for some new clients with 25 people attending a breakfast session at the Thistle Hotel in Glasgow. Another event is planned for March in Edinburgh. If you want to know more about CVAs then we know the people to approach.
Last Saturday we also organised, in partnership with Mike Kincaid of ELT, the ACTS conference for just over 130 people at the Stirling Management Centre. Really good event and hopefully it will be the first of many events we'll co-organise with Mike and his team.
Oh and the Scottish Learning Festival call for proposals is now closed. Over 400 submissions to look through now!!
For every successful event there has to be a few disappointments and a number of tenders haven't gone our way.
