It's that time of year again. I can't remembert the exact year I first came down to the BETT Show as an exhibitor with SCET but it must have been around the early 1990's. A couple of changes in job role at what became Learning and Teaching Scotland meant I missed a few years but in the main I've always looked forward to my yearly trip to London and the trials and tribulations that greet you at such a huge event within Olympia.
Now of course we are working with emap to pull together the seminar programme for the event. I don't think people realise how much blood sweat and tears is required to put on a show of this nature and the whole of the emap team should be applauded for their efforts each year. The operations team are onsite just now, the sales and marketing teams have been putting the event together since last January. It's a massive undertaking and you can never appreciate the work required until you're on that side of the fence.
The seminar programme is once again an integral part of the BETT Show and Claire and myself will be looking after five of the theatres and everyone who speaks in them. In addition there are the Training Zone, Software Presentation Area and the Future Learning Spaces
We're already being asked how to get into next year's programme so all I can say is look out for the Call for Proposals process that will kick in around May/June time.
We're also working woth emap to develop and deliver the Education Show timetable which takes place at the NEC in Birmingham between 4 and 6 March.
In between these two events we're working with the Association of Chartered Teachers Scotland to manage their winter conference in February, a couple of CVA (Company Voluntary Arrangement) Seminars for some new clients and a product launch for Ellipsis.
Oh and the Scottish Learning Festival Call for Proposals process is now underway with potential speakers having until 5 february to submit their abstracts.
