Anyone who has watched Field of Dreams will hopefully recognise how I felt when I walked across to Caffe Nero at 7.30 this morning to launch Think Different Events Banter Will they come or won't they?
In the end they were actually waiting for me!! - well a few of them in any case. Before long we had a huddle around a table upstairs which turned into a gathering and then different groups formed for informal chats amongst themselves. By the time we all departed a few hours later we were all a bit wiser about the people in our 'virtual network' while the intention is to evolve this notion and keep it fresh.
A lot is said about social media today which seems to exclude the 'social' aspect. Social to me means being with people, engaging with them and seeing their reaction to what's being said. Could social media actually be unsocial? No doubt the gurus will tell us otherwise.
The next event is again at the same time and venue with options to move it elsewhere as we slowly find our feet.
A big thanks to all who did attend today. Like me you were probably not sure what to expect but I hope it did what it said on the blurb.
A special thanks to Alastair O'Brien of the Amor Group. I used to work with him almost 30 years ago and it was great to see he has prospered so well in the intervening years. I wonder how many other ex-colleagues I'll meet on this journey?
