Organising events can often appear dead easy.
To a delegate they get their invitation, arrive at the venue, register, attend the sessions, have refreshments, network, fill in the evaluation form and depart. All without a hitch. The perception is that anyone could organise the event.
But what about the other 100+ people who also attended some with dietary requirements or other special needs, the number of teas and coffees, lunches that had to be provided, the AV, the printing of delegate materials, the arrangements for speakers, the budget, etc., etc.
What we say to clients is that it's their event. They concentrate on the content and leave us to concentrate on the logisitics. Sometimes we may even get asked to concentrate on the content as well.
I'm going to use the Blog to expand on how we look in detail at particular aspects of events organisation and hopefully others may wish to comment.
